South Australia’s premier drift championship is back for 2026. Round 3 of the SA State Series hits Mallala Motorsport Park, delivering a full day of high-intensity battles, fast judging, and that unmistakable SA drifting atmosphere. This championship has built its reputation on tight battles and big moments - and 2026 is shaping up to be the strongest season yet.

Mallala Motorsport Park is a historic and highly regarded racing circuit situated in Mallala, South Australia. Originally developed on the grounds of a former Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) base, the facility officially opened for racing in 1961 and immediately made history by hosting the Australian Grand Prix that same year, won by Lex Davison. For decades, it remained the heart of South Australian motorsport, serving as the state's primary permanent racing venue until the opening of newer facilities. The 2.6 km circuit is known for its flat topography and technical layout, featuring a mix of sharp 90-degree corners and demanding hairpins that require precise braking and car control. The venue has a storied history of ownership and survival. After a period of closure in the 1970s, it was famously revived by businessman and racer Clem Smith, who restored its status as a premier venue for national events like the Australian Touring Car Championship and Superbike championships. In 2017, the facility was acquired by the Peregrine Corporation, the group behind The Bend Motorsport Park, ensuring its long-term future. Today, Mallala is renowned as a 'drift mecca' and remains a staple for state-level championships, historic racing, and grassroots track days. Its atmosphere is distinctly 'old-school' and intimate, with spectator mounds providing excellent views of the entire circuit, making it a favorite for local enthusiasts.

Located approximately 55 kilometres north of Adelaide, Mallala Motorsport Park is an easy drive of about one hour from the city. Visitors typically travel via Port Wakefield Road (A1), turning off at Two Wells and following the signs toward the town of Mallala. The circuit is situated on Aerodrome Road, just outside the town centre. There is ample on-site parking available, often on unsealed surfaces behind the spectator viewing mounds, and the venue even offers trackside camping for major multi-day events.
